The essential oil of true lavender is the most important essential oil in aromatherapy, being the best-known, most widely used and one of the safest of all essential oils. Most people find the scent of true lavender pleasant and calming. Its other applications are extremely diverse. It has a soothing effect, can be used to clean and treat wounds, helps to relieve various muscular pains, serves as an insect repellent, is highly pleasant in the bath and eases the airways when diffused as a spray. This is an oil that every home should have around: to apply to a child’s painful knee, to clean a wound, to ease (and clean!) skin burns or to stop an oncoming migraine.
